PU ICET organize a seminar on “Potential Energy opportunities & Challenges of Green Hydrogen and Ammonia”


Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICE&T;), University of the Punjab, Lahore hosted a highly enlightening seminar entitled, “Potential Energy Opportunities and Challenges in Green Hydrogen and Ammonia”, on December 17, 2024, organized by the AIChE Students’ Chapter ICET-PU.

The event featured Engr. Harun Idrees, a distinguished expert (with TWO decades of experience) in various Process Engineering Industries and currently working with Allied Green Ammonia Australia, as the guest speaker and ICET Alumni (session 2000-2004). The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain (Director ICE&T), as guests of honour, and Dr. Ayyaz Muhammad (Chapter Advisor).  The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the guest speaker by Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain and emphasised the importance of energy opportunities and concerns in Pakistan, followed by a detailed and engaging session by Engr. Harun Idrees. His presentation covered the potential applications, challenges, and advancements in green hydrogen and ammonia technologies, inspiring attendees with his depth of knowledge and industry experience.

To enhance interaction and assess the understanding of the audience, a quiz competition was conducted at the conclusion of the seminar. This activity ensured active participation and reinforced key learnings from the session and prize money of 2K Rs. was gifted by the speaker to winner of quiz, Hafiz Abdullah (7th Sem. 2021-25 session). The seminar concluded by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan Durrani, presenting a souvenir to Engr. Harun Idrees as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The event served as a significant step in fostering academic-industrial collaboration and expanding students’ awareness of sustainable energy solutions.

The AIChE ICET PU Chapter continues to organize such impactful events, providing students and professionals with a platform to explore, learn, and contribute in the field of Chemical Engineering discipline.
